Bike Week 2008

14 - 22 June 2008 Join us and cycle groups all over Britain to celebrate this annual festival of cycling.

Local Events
  • Saturday 7 June
Not strictly part of Bike Week, but we'll be at the Godalming Town Show and Carnival on the Bury's field in the centre of Godalming. Please come along and say hello to us and also to the Velo Club Godalming + Haslemere with whom we're sharing the stand.
  • Saturday 14 June
We're planning to have a stall during the morning at Crown Court in Godalming High Street. Please come along, say hello and tell us what you think of the local cycling world.
  • Wednesday 18 June
We're having an easy evening ride from Godalming to Puttenham village to visit the beautifully renovated barn opposite the church. It is now known as the Puttenham Camping Barn and forms part of a network of simple accomodation particularly for walkers and cyclists. We'll leave Crown Court in the centre of Godalming at 7.00pm (please don't be late) and return about 9.30. Even though it's mid-summer, please take the precaution of bringing lights for your cycle.
  • Every week
The Velo Club Godalming + Haslemere (VCGH) organise a regular series of cycle rides with styles from easy to challenging.

Who are we?

Godalming Cycle Campaign is a small group who aim to encourage non-motorised forms of transport by promoting awareness of the bicycle. We believe that many people who would use a bicycle for journeys of up to a few miles are discouraged by the need to share narrow roads with fast motorised traffic, and we exist to put forward alternative transport strategies - as well as showing that bicycles are great fun.

Where are we?

We meet at the Friends Meeting House in Mill Lane, Godalming (near the station) on the first Tuesday of every month at 8.00pm for two hours or so. If you're interested in promoting cycle use around Godalming, please come along. There is usually the temptation to visit the pub afterwards...

Join us!

Membership of Godalming Cycle Campaign is now FREE! For that we keep you informed about stuff we do, and how to join in. Interested? Send us an email with your name and quoting "Membership" and we'll get right back to you. (Be nice - it goes to a real human, not a robot...)
